Hosting and Server Logs

The website is hosted by Vercel. When you visit, your IP address, the requested page, the time of access, and browser and other request data may be processed. Website operations also involve logging errors and notification-delivery information.

Web Analytics with Vercel Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to analyse page views and website usage in aggregate. These statistics help us understand which content visitors use.

Supabase

Supabase provides the database for website content and contact inquiries, along with storage for uploaded images and documents. It also manages user accounts, profiles and sign-in data for protected areas. Public pages can be visited without an account.

Contact Form

When you use the contact form, you provide your name, email address and message. The subject and reason for your inquiry are optional. We use this information to respond to your inquiry. A hidden check field helps detect spam.

Your inquiry is stored in Supabase together with the time of receipt, the browser identifier (user-agent) and, where available, a hash of the IP address. After it is stored, the designated website contacts receive an email containing the form information through Resend.

Email Delivery through Resend

Resend delivers notifications about contact inquiries and new accounts awaiting approval. For email delivery, Resend receives the form information or, for a signup, the name, email address, signup time and role or member category where available.

User Accounts and Sign-in

You need to sign in to access protected dashboard areas. Supabase Auth processes account data and session information for this purpose. Authentication cookies maintain your sign-in and manage your session; they are not used for web analytics.

Sign-in through Google or GitHub

Google

If you choose to sign in with Google, identity and authorization data are exchanged between Google and Supabase to sign you in.

GitHub

If you choose to sign in with GitHub, corresponding data are exchanged with GitHub. Sign-in through these providers begins only when you select that sign-in method.

Google Maps

Google Maps is embedded on the RSS Contact page and the DDECS event-location page. Loading a map connects your browser to Google and may transmit your IP address, browser information and request data to Google.

Publication Data / SerpApi

We use SerpApi to import publications. The server uses public Google Scholar author and publication identifiers to retrieve bibliographic details such as titles, authors, publication dates, links and citation counts. This keeps the publication list up to date; it is not used to analyse visits to the website.

Cookies and Local Storage

When you sign in, Supabase uses cookies to store authentication and session data. These allow the website to recognise a signed-in session.

Our pages link to LinkedIn, YouTube, Google Scholar, publications, and personal and institutional websites. Following a link takes you to the provider's website, where its privacy notice applies. Normal links are distinct from embedded services such as maps.

Storage and Deletion

Contact inquiries, user accounts, profiles and uploaded files are stored in Supabase for the respective website functions. For questions about your stored personal data or its deletion, you can contact the university's Data Protection Officer.
